Generation Gap!
Have heard a lot of how good others' relation with their parents. How they take care of the parents patiently, with love, care and endless effort.
Having watched 'Ketika Gladiol Bersemi' in Daai TV about how 4 brothers take care of their mom for 14 years, accompanying her twice a day walking to the hill for exercise, truly shows how loving the children can be.
As a Tzu Chi volunteer, attended the musical drama 'Filial Piety Sutra', trying to be good to parents is a must. All the time, I have been staying with my sisters in Jakarta and my mom in Riau. And once my Mom came to Jakarta, it seems that the chance is here.
Too good to be true, theory is not as easy to be put into practice. Trying to be nice to her, it seems that her way of thinking is totally different from the way we think now. For the last nine years, I seldom spend time with her. Thinking that everything will be the same, I realized that it was me who changed, for good and bad.
Just realized that generation gap is not as easy as it seems and it is true that one need to use wisdom to be able to practise this. So next time when I see someone who practise filial piety well, I know I have to respect them as they are the people with wisdom.
Once Confusius said, "compassion starts with filial piety". Seems it is true.
